Most programs ask you to fit the program. This one starts by learning how your body moves.
Most fitness programs were not built for this stage of life.
If you have ever felt like fitness was not built for someone like you, you were right. Most fitness programs are designed for younger bodies, simpler histories, and one-size-fits-all progressions. If you have ever walked out of a class feeling like it was not built for you, or avoided starting because you were not sure it was safe, that is not a personal failure. This program starts somewhere different: with your body, your history, and what you actually need now.
You are not too complicated. You have just never been given a program built for exactly where you are.
Strength training is not only safe for women over 60. When it is structured progressively and adapted to the individual body, it is one of the most effective tools for maintaining bone density, balance, and independence as we age.
A live strength program built for the body you actually have.
The Independent Body™ Program is live coaching, delivered in small groups via Zoom, for retired professional women who want a coach paying attention to them in every session. A real coach who knows your history and is watching you, live, in every session.
Whatever your history, the program works with it, not around it.
Frozen shoulders. Hip replacements. Osteoporosis. Years away from movement. Heidi has coached women through all of it. Your history does not have to be edited out before you can begin.
A live coach who adapts what she sees, every session.
Heidi is present and coaching throughout every session. She watches how you move and adjusts in real time. Not a pre-recorded video. Not a follow-along class. A real coach, watching you move, in every session.
A small group who understands exactly where you are.
Four to five women. Same stage of life. Nobody ahead of you. Nobody judging. Women who understand exactly where you are, because they are there too.
From first conversation to first session: three simple steps.

There is no obligation at any point. The call exists to give you clarity.
Women in this program do not just get stronger. They start moving through their days differently.
More confident on the stairs. Less hesitant in the grocery store. Willing to say yes to things they had quietly started saying no to. Better balance. Stronger bones. The kind of everyday strength that stops requiring a plan. The shift in how they think about what their body can do is often the first thing that changes. The physical changes follow.
Your body has more capability left than you have been led to believe. The goal is to find it.

Heidi's clients stay for an average of 8 years.
Most coaching and fitness programs see clients leave within months. That number reflects what happens when coaching is personal, attentive, and built to grow with the woman rather than stay fixed.

Common questions about online strength coaching for retired women.
Can I start if I have never exercised before?
Yes. The program is designed to begin exactly where you are. Your starting point is not a disadvantage. It is simply where we begin.
What if I have injuries, osteoporosis, or a complex health history?
Yes, you can join with injuries, osteoporosis, or a complex health history. Your health history shapes the program, not limits it. Sessions are adapted in real time, and Heidi works with your context, not around it.
Twenty years of showing up for the women the fitness industry overlooked.
Heidi Lootsma specializes in safe strength and movement coaching for retired professional women, with a degree specifically designed around adapting exercise to the individual body and a career-long specialization in modified and adapted movement.
Heidi holds a Bachelor of Physical Education with Honours in Modified and Adapted Exercise from Brock University. Her degree was built around one principle: adapt the movement to the person, never the other way around. That principle has shaped every program she has built across more than twenty years of coaching, and it is the foundation of every session she delivers today.
She has been coaching women since 2002, with a dedicated focus on women in this stage of life since 2009. She has worked with women navigating frozen shoulders, hip replacements, osteoporosis, cardiac conditions, and complex surgical recoveries. Many coaches step back from histories like that. Heidi has always stepped toward them.

You have spent decades being capable. Your body is not done proving it.
A discovery call is a 30-minute conversation between two people figuring out whether this is the right fit. You will leave knowing what working together looks like, what it costs, and whether it makes sense for where you are right now.
